Roofing contractor shingles

There are several types of Asphalt Shingles with multiple variants and specialty shingles. We will attempt to make sense of your choices here. Let’s start with the basics…

3-tab shingles, roofing shingles

3-Tab Roof Shingles

These are the “old school” shingles. They are the basic shingle that has been used for years recognizable and named for the 3 notched tabs on the visible lower edge of the shingle.

Dimensional/Architectural shingles

These are also Asphalt shingles, but unlike 3-Tab they are constructed in layers to give depth to the color and overall appearance. They are heavier and thus hold up to stronger winds than traditional shingles. It gives them the appearance of slate.

Dimensional Pro/Max Def Shingles

Dimensional Pro, sometimes called Max Definition Shingles, are Asphalt shingles with Maximum Definition coloring and a heavier weight for even more wind resistance.

Luxury shingles

These are the High-End Shingles. They are made with the best quality materials, most dynamic coloring, and are the heaviest shingles in the Asphalt Roofing Shingle arsenal.
